We are looking forward to celebrating with you at Walk MS! To help you prepare for the big event, we wanted answer any questions you may have about what to do prior to the event and where to go once you arrive. Let us know if you have additional questions by emailing walkMSnorthwest@nmss.org or calling 1-800-344-4867, press 2, ext. 40307. Let's get started:

Q:  Where do I check in?
A:
There will be a check-in tent at the event where you can drop off your donationenvelope, and pick up any fundraising prizes you may have earned.* Participants who raise $100 or more will receive a Walk MS t-shirt; participants who raise $250 or more will receive an Elite Feet pin; participants who raise $750 or more will join the Walk MS Hall of Fame. There is also a special fundraising group for participantsunder 18: Super Youth. Super Youth who raise $100 or more will receive a special t-shirt to be worn at Walk MS.

* Fundraising prize certificates for participants raising $500 or more will be mailed or emailed after the pledge deadline.

Q: What do I need to bring to the walk?
A: Please bring any last minute donations with you to Registration, as well as your donation collection envelope. You are also welcome to bring any personal items you might need for the duration of the event, such as snacks or an umbrella. Everyone is welcome at Walk MS, so bring a friend or family member - they can register on site!

Q: What is the fundraising minimum?
A:
While there is no minimum to participate, fundraising is encouraged for Walk MS. All donations are welcome so that we can continue to fund local programs and services to people with MS. The average participant in the Greater Northwest Chapter raised $250 in 2013. Participants who raise $100 or more will receive an official Walk MS event t-shirt.

Q: I'm walking and my family will be joining me. Should they register for Walk MS?
A: Everyone participating in Walk MS should register for the event, including children. If you like, you can create your own Walk MS team for your family. Simply find your local Walk MS page, and click 'Start a Team' – you can register your entire family from there!

Q: May I walk at more than one Walk MS site?
A: Sure, we would love to have you! Be sure to register for each site you plan to attend.

Q: I will be out of town during Walk MS. Can I still participate as a Virtual Walker?
A: Yes! You do not have to physically walk or even be at the event to participate in Walk MS. You can be a Virtual Walker as an individual, team participant or as a volunteer. As a Virtual Walker, you can raise money and will be eligible to receive the same benefits and prizes as walkers. Register Now

Q: What should I Wear?
A:
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. We walk rain or shine. Layer items of clothing. Weather can range from cold and rainy to very hot. You may want to bring a favorite snack or food items. Food is available at the event, but it’s important to note that individual’s taste range and if there are items that you prefer please bring them. If you have a special diet, you are encouraged to bring food items compatible with your diet.

Q:  Can you bring pets to the walk?
A:  We ask that you please leave non-service animals at home for Walk MS. With hundreds – and at some sites thousands – of people all in one place, it's a safety issue.

Q: What should I expect to do at Walk MS?
A: When you arrive at Walk MS, stop at the check-in tent to drop off any donations you have collected, and to pick up any fundraising prizes you may have earned. Be sure to visit the Wall of Hope to share why you are walking, and to get yourself one of the"I'm Walking For" bibs. There will be a brief program before the walk officially starts, rest stops along the route, and lunch provided afterward.

Q: Does the walk route accommodate wheelchairs/scooters, strollers/wagons, bikes, and/or skateboards?
A:
The walk routes are accommodating to strollers, wheelchairs, and scooters. However, due to safety issues, you may not ride a bike, rollerblade, or skateboard.
