CHAMPS
Although, I don't see myself as a "CHAMP," I am a champion in the fight to find a cause and cure for MS. I was diagnosed with MS on February 16, 1999. I began to recover from the shock of learning that there is no known cause or cure for what I have. I visited a neurologist who cared enough to give me what guidance he could. We decided to start me on one of the few available drugs.
I soon found out about the National MS Society. I went to my first MS walk and walked the 4-mile course. It was then that I began to learn about others with MS. I have MS, but it doesn't have me. I hope to inspire folks to do their best with what they've got. I have participated in an MS Walk every year and have slowly become educated about what I can do to improve my quality of life while dealing with my deteriorating physical self. I am still a contributor and plan to be even if my body doesn't cooperate. I can't always do things the way most people do, but I can and will continue to live this beautiful life!
