CHAMPS

I was diagnosed with MS in 1997, but I think I had known prior for quite a while. Being in the medical field, I knew what I was up against. I still was in denial for quite sometime, even with the knowledge I already retained.

Although I was forced to resign as an RN as well as having to make major changes in my life, I have not let MS have too much of an effect on my daily activities.

The National MS Society was the first place that I looked because I was already aware of their existence. The information that I received from the National MS Society was so helpful that I collected more and started to attend periodic seminars. I have been active in our local MS walk for the last 7 years, helping with planning and set-up as well as actually walking it the last two years. It also helps that the National MS Society is always searching for more ways to help those of us with this disease. The new research and development that has come out in just the last few years gives all of us hope that someday soon there will be a cure for us!
